The Iona Gas Plant is located in the Otway Basin. This is a strategically significant location because:
- It is the point where the South West Pipeline (SWP) and SEA Gas Pipeline meet. This enables the facility to be able to supply gas into both the Victorian and South Australian demand centres.
- Gas reserves in the Otway Basin enable processing of raw gas, providing integrated processing and storage synergies outside of the wholesale markets.
The desirable nature of this location has also attracted other facility operators into the region including the Otway Gas Plant, Minerva Gas Plant, and a connection to the Mortlake Pipeline.
The diagram below shows the interfaces between the Iona Gas Plant and external facilities.
